Potential climate/ disaster impacts addressed by approach & Justification for approach:
The content of the course on "green streets and infrastructure" contains technical information to conceptualize, elaborate and implement constructive systems that help reduce temperatures generated by heat islands. This is due to the integration of vegetation within the design and then in the construction of streets, squares, gardens, bus stops or sidewalks.
Process of Implementation:
SEDATU in collaboration with GIZ developed the (blended) course “Streets and Green Infrastructure" taught in Tlaquepaque, Morelia, Mérida and Hermosillo. Thanks to the positive results of the course, during 2020 the contents were adapted to a 100% virtual course to be taught on the educational platform of the National Institute for Federalism and Municipal Development (INAFED), belonging to the Ministry of the Interior (SEGOB). The "Virtual Course on Green Streets and Infrastructure" managed to reach municipalities in the 32 states of the country with more than 3,000 public officials registered.
