Potential climate/ disaster impacts addressed by approach & Justification for approach:
A palette of vegetation provides the basic and necessary information to select the suitable vegetation in projects and construction of basic urban infrastructure. This has a high impact in terms of adaptation because it helps generate ecosystems on site which can reduce water consumption, control temperature, generate suitable environments with native vegetation and generate a longer life cycle of vegetation.
Process of Implementation:
Within the process of strengthening the Programa de Mejoramiento Urbano (PMU), which has funding of approximately EUR 600 million for the construction of public space and basic urban infrastructure projects, sustainable design criteria were integrated, one of which was the integration of the vegetation palette in the urban design of the projects as a measure of adaptation to climate change.
