Plantation activities, check dams and water channels constructions in addition to administrative decisions

Potential climate/ disaster impacts addressed by approach & Justification for approach:

Floods are increasing the influx of sediments in the dams which led to a decrease in the dam storage capacity.

Process of Implementation:

The project's main object is to protect dam capacity through labor-intensive activities by providing short-term opportunities for local poor Jordanians and Syrian refugees. The project works with Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) as the official governmental entity in Jordan. JVA is responsible for the management of dams and wadis in Jordan. Potential areas under risk of erosion were mapped through studies on the sites. Options for erosion control that can be implemented by cash workers were identified. Once the proposals and designs were approved, the implementation took place and was monitored by the project and JVA.
