This document proposes a methodology that includes hydro-geomorphological, social and environmental criteria for the delimitation of buffer zones in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. This focus enables the improvement of spatial planning and management; and the conservation of the environment and of the water resources.
Process of Implementation:
Zonation Guide: This technical guide focusses on the delimitation of three protection zones: The Water Domain Zone, Environmental Protection Zone and the Public Use Domain Zone. In this context, the Guide is oriented towards delimiting the Environmental Protection Zone, as a measure to protect riverbeds, biodiversity and protect the population from extreme events (flooding and recurrent landslides). Additionally, the guide identifies activities to restore, recover and properly management water ecosystems.
