Potential climate/ disaster impacts addressed by approach & Justification for approach:
Municipalities are on the front line of climate change. Five municipalities located in one of the provinces most exposed to the risks and impacts of climate change in Ecuador are connected by the Portoviejo River. These municipalities seek to strengthen their resilience through common policies and actions in terms of risk management (floods, droughts, landslides, soil management) and the future impacts of climate change.
Process of Implementation:
A sustainable management model for the group of municipalities was developed, as well as an action plan for the management of the municipal organization. In addition, a process of institutional and technical capacity building in risk management and climate change was carried out.
